Moderate Support • Early Career • Goal 5:
Plan for Transportation
Action step 1.
Consider transportation options to work.
If you are not working remotely, your job might require you to commute to your workplace every day or a few days a week. Determine what modes of transportation are available where you live and what makes the most sense based on time, cost and safety. Some options include:
- Driving, ride sharing or carpooling
- Walking or biking
- Public transportation, such as a bus, train or subway
- Transportation services for people with disabilities, such as paratransit and bus passes

Action step 2.
Practice getting to work.
This can help you figure out how long it takes to get to your job, navigate traffic or transportation services and travel safely. For example:
- If you drive, you may need help figuring out the best route.
- If you walk, you need to be safe on dangerous roads.
- If you ride a bus, van or train, you may want someone to go with you until you feel comfortable going on your own.
